Sometimes the morning drive into town is more spectacular than others.

I know I have said it many times before but I believe it still stands up to repetition so here goes; I think any Pastor worth his salt should drive an old pickup truck. Why do I repeat this comment now? Well, simply ’cause Pierson is retiring in late September. So we need to call a new Pastor, Reverend, or whatever ya want to call him to our little church. And this begs the question, “What traits do you look for in a Pastor?” Without citing the Bible and verse, here are a few things that the Pastoral letters and Epistles say to look for;
1) A man that loves God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
2) A man that loves family and thinks of it before himself.
3) A man that thinks of his neighbor before he thinks of himself.
4) A man that is willing, and wanting, to teach.
5) A man that is willing, and wanting, to help others.
6) A man that try’s to tame the most unwilling tongue (his own).
7) And finally, a man that trys to imitate Christ.
Yes, yes, you are right, there are more items needed for this list and probably should have less items on that list. But hey, the number 7 is considered fulfillment in bibliological terms. And if it does not, it does in this story! To sum up the list, let me put it this way, a Pastor should be a man that loves God, is humble, and wants help others. That summation can also describe a redneck and they all drive pickup trucks, so therefore, a pastor should also drive a pickup truck! To be a bit more earnest, a man that drives a pickup is a man that is practical, willing to work with his back as well as his tongue, willing to help others (move), and is humble enough not to drive the latest “hot vehicle” (does not put material things before his neighbor). I believe that if Jesus came back today, he would drive a pickup!
Yup, a lot of this is tongue in check, but think about it and let me know what you think?

From the WrayPost Photoblog
Temporary weather link.
Last nights partial rainbow. 30 minutes later, the southern portion of the rainbow appeared as the northern one disappeared.
I love the photography that you can find at File.

Okay, 5.4 inches of rain on Wednesday, .4 on Thursday and now another .6 last night. Throw in the .2 on Tuesday night and the total rainfall for this week is 6.8″! According to the Weather Channel, Wray averages only 17.54 inches a year. We got darn near 40% of our average precipitation in less then a week. Woo Doggies! Makes a feller think about packing a pair of rubber under wear!
Quack atcha’ later fellow duckies.
I ain’t spilling no tears on seeing the high temps heading out the door. To me they are like some foreigners that come here on a 6 month work visa and forget to that 6 months is not 10 years. Or they are like that old saying, “Friends and family are like fish, after three days they all start to smell!” In other words high temperatures, thanks for the reminder what it really feels like to be hot, but don’t let the door hit you on the way out. (Okay, no more cliché’s)
and here comes the response;
When I am right (I am usually really lucky), am I right or what? lol
